Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash Mask Review

The mask/wash can be used in 2 complementary ways:

1.      As a wash: used daily, it effectively removes dirt, oil and impurities and helps reduce and prevent spots.
2.      As a mask: the soft clay based formula absorbs excess oil and unclogs pores to purify skin deep down.

Ingredients:
Aqua, Glycerin, Kaolin, Bentonite, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Cl 77891, Trideceth-9, Salicylic Acid, C12-15 Alkyl Lactate, Sodium Chloride, Menthol, PEG-5 Ethylhexanoate, Xanthan Gum, Cetyl Lactate, Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Coconut Acid, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Lactic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Chlorphenesin, Propylparaben, Benzalkonium Chloride Ethylparaben, Parfum

Thoughts:
After pre-cleansing, I apply a thin layer on my face. With this product a little goes a long way, so you don’t need to get too excited and apply loads. It’s not like the more you apply, the more it cleanses so there’s no point.

Upon application you get a tingling feeling which doesn’t feel unbearable or horrid. After washing this product off, you can still feel the tingling feeling for the first 30 seconds. I prefer to use this as a mask, because I like the product to penetrate deep into my skin and work its magic.

Product Claims: ‘helps to remove impurities and clear spots for doubly clear skin’

I have had spots whilst using this product, and I don’t think this product helped them, to be honest. I don’t think it’s this scrub causing me to break out though. But what I can honestly say is that after application, my face feels clean and soft afterwards.
Avoid contact with eyes. I actually had some of this in my eye, and it doesn't feel too great.

Application method:
I pre-cleanse before application. To pre-cleanse, I either wash my face with warm water, or use facial wipes, before using this product. When applying, I wet my face beforehand, massage into my skin for 30-40 seconds. When washing, I rinse off with warm water, and splash with cold water, to seal in my pores.
My final thoughts on this product: You must pre-cleanse before applying, as using this product on its own, will not remove all traces of make-up.

For optimal results: Use as mask, and leave on for 30-40 mins.

Price-£3.50 at Amazon including delivery or £3.99 at Superdrug/ Boots (in-store). I bought this product at Superdrug, when it was part of a 2 for £4.99 offer, which is very good value for money. I would not recommend spending more than £5 on this product.
Smell-(5/5) I don’t know how to describe the smell of this product. It smells quite minty (that’s down to the Bentonite). It smells absolutely amazing though. The smell is to die for.
Texture: Creamy texture. If you use it a mask, and the product hardens, your face will feel a bit tight. The product applies easily, but doesn’t wash off as easily.
Consistency: (1/5) Toothpaste like. Due to its consistency, it can be a tad hard to remove all traces. Removing the product from my hairline can be a bit of a chore; hence the trusty flannel comes in handy here.

Overall rating: (3/5)

Would I repurchase? Nope.

This is currently part of my skincare regime now, and I use it once a day at night. I use its sister Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Stress Control Daily Scrub in the mornings. However, once it finishes, I won't be repurchasing. I know it's worked wonders for others,  (FYI it's now my mother's staple product) however it didn't do the same for me :(
I’ve heard this works a treat with the following products: Clinique Exfoliating Scrub, Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, the Clarasonic and Nivea Soft Moisturizer. If you have any tips and tricks, you'd like to share that maximise the effectiveness of this product, then please share below. As always stay blessed and beautiful dolls xoxo

Queen Helene the Original Mint Julep Masque Review

The first time I used the mask, I applied it on my face quite thinly, (due to its consistency), and left it on for 15 minutes, and then I washed it off. Once on your skin, within the first minute you get this stinging sensation, that kind of feels like burning. The sensation is not very pleasant at all, but it doesn’t last for that long, so is pretty bearable. Before I go any further, may I just add, that due to the thick consistency of this product, it was really hard to wash off. With scrubs and masks, I tend to remove them, with my hands and warm water. With this mask (or rather masque), after rinsing my face with water 3 times, I STILL had product on my face. After seeking additional help from my trusty face towel (flannel), I managed to remove the leftover product. My skin felt very, very DRY after using it. Now FYI, my skin type is dry and sensitive, but this mask made it even drier. I was very disappointed as I had read numerous reviews that waxed lyrical about this product.

Product's Ingredients:
WaterAqua , Kaolin , Bentonite , Glycerin , Zinc Oxide , Propylene Glycol , Sulfur , Chromium Oxide Greens CI No. 77288 , FragranceParfum , Phenoxyethanol , Methylparaben

I decided to give this product one last try, as I refused to believe, that this product wouldn’t work for me. After reading other reviews on this product, a lot of people recommended leaving this masque on for an hour, or leaving it on overnight for optimal results.
Applcation Method: I didn’t wet my face before putting the masque on, I just put it on my dry face. I kept it on or about 50 minutes, and when I went to take the masque off, it had dried up and started to crack. As the product had dried up, it was even harder to remove than last time. However, unlike last time, when I did remove the mask, my face did not feel half as DRY, as it did last time, but really soft and smooth. Now the product claims to ‘rinse away blackheads (and) shrink enlarged pores’ but I have not seen such results.
My final thoughts on this product: Please cleanse before applying. Apply generously before application, as this really will make a difference. The first time I used this product, I decided to skip that part and as a result, the product decided to skip giving me the full benefits, so please don’t make the same mistake I did. I’d recommend this product for oily skin, or combination skin that airs on the oily side, as it can be a tad drying. I have also heard that it can be an effective spot/acne treatment, if put on the problem area/(s) overnight. If you have dry skin, you will have to moisturize well afterwards. This product is very impractical, as it is not easily removed. This product is meant to be very similar to the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay, so I wanna try that one next. Unfortunately, it only seems to be available in the US. If anyone has any idea, how I can get it over here, in the UK, please let me know. J
For optimal results, leave on for 45 mins- 1 hour/ when the product has dried to the cracking stage. All in all, the masque is alright, and not as AMAZING, as some people have claimed. If this masque was part of my skincare regimen, I would only use it once a week. The only reason why my first two applications, have such a short duration time between them is because I was retesting the product.

Where can you get one from? I got one from Sabina. You can get your one from your local Afro Carribean hair and beauty supply store.

Final thoughts:
Price -£2.49 (5/5) I think the price is pretty cheap and cheerful, and considering you get 33% extra product (59ml) for your money, as it’s a bonus pack, you can’t really go wrong. I would not recommend spending more than £3.50 on this product.
Smell- Mint/ Toothpaste (1/5) I normally like the smell of mints and toothpaste, but in this product I did not like the smell.
Texture/Feel- Toothpaste/Mud (1/5) I’m not a fan of the texture of the texture of the mask. IT's very thick and when it dries becomes hard which make it hard to remove.

Overall rating 2.5/5. Would I repurchase No?
