Battle Of The Brushes: MAC 187 Brush vs. ELF Studio Powder Brush

Whether you're a beauty newbie, or someone who's been in the biz for a while, unless you've been AWOL for the last decade, I'm sure you've heard of the MAC 187 Duo Fibre (Foundation) Stipling Face Brush. This brush is forever showered with praise in the blogging and vlogging word alike. What you'd like to know is how it fares up against the ELF Studio Brush, right?

Which one would I recommend?

I'd have to say my ELF Studio Powder Brush wins hands-down any day. That's not to say that the MAC 187 Foundation Brush is crap, as I've still got mine, however, it's my reserve and isn't the one I reach for on a daily basis. Although both brushes do shed, I feel my MAC one has shed more than my ELF one. I also feel like in terms of finishes, my ELF brush gives a just as good finish as my MAC one, if not better.

For make-up beginners, I'd particularly recommend the ELF brush, as the stippling technique can be a bit hard to get the hang off at first, and does take a lot of practise. Furthermore, for your first make up-brush, I wouldn't advice spending tonnes of money, as you'll probably end up buying loads of brushes throughout your make-up journey.

Although, the ELF brush, is recommended for use with powder products, I've used this for liquid, and know other bloggers do this too, and it works like a dream.

  1. I definitely prefer MAC, but then again I've never tried ELF. Perhaps it's time to give it a go?
