Andre Pierre Salon Review

Finding a good salon to go to when you're black and relaxed can be a bit tough. Don't get me wrong there are loads of salons in London that cater to black hair, but whether or not they are good is an entirely different matter.

Yesterday, I went to the Andre Pierre Salon which is based in Brixton for the first time. I’m not very au fait with the Brixton area but found Coldharbour Lane (where the salon is situated) very easily.
Before (9 weeks post-relaxer)
As soon as I arrived I was warmly greeted and seated by Andre. I waited for less than 10 minutes before Andre began to work on my hair. I was recommended Affirm Fiberguard Relaxing system by Andre as I told him I had a sensitive scalp, and my scalp/hair condition was pretty dire *hides face*

This is the best relaxer application I have had and this is part of the reason why I’m sure this won’t be the last time you hear about Andre Pierre on my blog. All the salons I’ve previously been to are aware that I have an extra sensitive scalp, yet when they apply the relaxer, they always comb it through. The strangest thing is experienced stylists should be aware that relaxer is not supposed to actually touch your scalp, yet still proceed to comb it through, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever as there is no way you can comb a relaxer through without it touching the scalp. Once Andre put the relaxer on my hair, he didn’t comb it through and I think this is why for the first time in ages I don’t have any scalp burns. A lot of stylists have told me they need to comb the relaxer through my hair, otherwise my hair won’t become straight, which I now know is a lie. Andre didn’t comb the relaxer through and as you can see my hair is super straight!

Customer Service: 4.5/5 I genuinely have nothing bad to say about the customer service I received from Andre. I was greeted upon arrival, offered refreshments as soon as I was seated and found Andre very friendly. My only problem was when his stylist prepped my hair before he styled it, I asked her to reduce the heating on the blowdyer as it was hurting my scalp and she refused stating if she lowered the heat, then my hair wouldn’t dry properly. As most hairdyers have various heat settings, I really don’t believe if she had turned the dryer down a notch or too my hair wouldn’t have dried properly, however it may have taken longer to dry, which might have been the real reason why.
Price: 4/5 I paid £95 for a Relaxer & Treatment, which is a bit steep compared to what I’m used to but as I’m so pleased with the service and my results I deffo think I’ll be back!
